Interacting with Troopr in Slack

Overview

Troopr is designed to live where engineering teams already communicate. Instead of switching between tabs, users can manage Jira issues, participate in standups, and view reports directly within Slack. There are three primary ways to interact with the Troopr bot: Emoji Actions, User Commands, and the Slack App Home.

Emoji Actions

Emoji Actions are the fastest way to turn a Slack conversation into a documented Jira action. By simply reacting to a message with a specific emoji, users can trigger automated workflows.

Task It: Use a designated emoji to open a pre-filled issue creation form. Troopr uses AI to suggest a title, description, and priority based on the Slack message content.
Comment It: React to a message to instantly add that text as a comment to a linked Jira issue.
Emoji Markers: Use emojis to update issue status or assign tasks to team members without typing a single word.

User Commands

For users who prefer a keyboard-centric workflow, Troopr provides a set of slash commands. These allow for quick searches and updates from any channel or Direct Message (DM).

/troopr: The primary command to open the main menu or search for specific Jira issues.
Create and Update: Use commands to quickly log new bugs or change the status of an existing ticket.
Personal Reports: Pull up a personal summary of overdue or stale work to see what needs immediate attention.

The Slack App Home

The App Home is a centralized dashboard within Slack where users can manage their individual and team settings. To find it, click on "Troopr" under the Apps section in the Slack sidebar.

Home Tab: View a summary of active check-ins, pending tasks, and personal metrics.
Manage Check-ins: Users can review and approve their AI-drafted standup updates here before they are shared with the team.
Configuration: Access settings to customize notification preferences or link Jira and GitHub accounts.
